A private, non-profit real estate company, Thistle Communities develops and preserves quality, permanently affordable rental and ownership homes as well as market rate homes in Boulder County. Since our founding in 1989, we’ve created over 1,000 affordable homes.
Information Regarding the North Boulder Community Survey
Thistle Communities, a member organization of NeighborWorks America (NWA), is required by NWA to demonstrate the impact of our activities by completing the Community Impact Measurement (CIM) project. Thistle has defined an area of 550 households in North Boulder where we are building mixed-income neighborhoods over the next two years. This area will be observed and measured in 2013 and 2015.
One of the measurement tools is a statistically significant survey sample of 200 households in the geographic area of Lee Hill on the north, Broadway on the east and Quince on the south. The intent of the survey is to measure our impact in Community Development. The required survey asks questions regarding residents’ experience in their community and we will add a couple of Thistle-specific questions. We are hoping to gain some awareness and information from the process that will help us improve our work in the community. Thistle staff is managing the project and has recruited four interns from the CU Leeds School of Business to complete the field work. The interns are familiar with the local community. The project will be completed in Summer, 2013.
